This piece focuses on the contrast of color and emotion. It gives me a break from the details
of realism and to explore! In this colorful canvas, you witness a woman crouching, surrounded by eight reaching hands. Each hand represents condemnation, greed, lust, abuse, violation, struggle, wisdom, and religion – the diverse hands that have touched my life in various ways. The hands aim to take, to claim, yet the woman, resilient and vibrant, fights to preserve her essence. I painted her in vivid hues against a colored backdrop, a defiance against the hands that sought to drain her of color. They may be colorless – stark in white and black – but she remains untouched, a testament to her unwavering strength. This piece encapsulates my journey, a visual narrative of resilience amidst shadows, a reminder that no matter the hands that reach, they will never take away your vibrant spirit.
